The common features about this year's 2020 Christmas adverts are that it is all about relationships and family because of the corona virus it is harder to shop and mainly because a lot of family are split up due to the virus.
Task Two: Choose an advert that you enjoy, and write an evaluation of the copy that has been created.
Waitrose & Jhon Lewis Christmas 2020 advert - Give A Little Love
This year the advert from Waitrose and John Lewis called “Give A Little Love” celebrates kindness and how the world would be a better place if we all gave a little more love. It is a two-minute video with a mixture of real people and different cartoon drawing styles where people, snowmen, birds and other animals, help out each other in various ways from a girl using her umbrella to get a boy’s football from a tree, to an animated snowman offering roadside assistance to a motorist experiencing car trouble. This helps capture different moments of many different forms of kindness and tells us that no matter the size can have positively impacted the world.
The target audience is for all ages and all genders as it doesn't matter what age you are, you can always give kindness. There is verry few writing in the video as it is mainly telling you throw the lyrics of the song which flows smoothly with the animation. At the end of the video the words “Together we can make a big difference” give one last final impact as it is telling you exactly what the video is about.
I think they made this advert in consideration of the epidemic (Covid-19) as there where many families apart from each other and it is also a lot harder to buy presents. In my opinion the advert was done successfully as it conveys companionship and kindness, in a fun and easy to understand way.
